About Our Forest

Described by Sir David Attenborough as “the most extraordinary place on Earth”, The Wet Tropics World Heritage Area is the world’s oldest surviving tropical rainforest. A landscape so biodiverse, it is a living breathing window into the past, where you’ll find flora and fauna over 100 million years in the making.

Our forest is a unique and special corner of that ecosystem. It’s been the subject of many scientific studies, with one showing it consistently produced 4 to 7 times the amount of fruit than other nearby sites. This rich source of food along with the general deforestation in the area makes for an amazing density and variety of wildlife at The Canopy.
